Pediatric Oncology Baylor

This well qualified research associate position with training (didactic and research experiences) in childhood cancer epidemiology and cancer prevention in a multi-disciplinary setting, with a strong foundation epidemiology, genetics, cancer biology, survivorship research, and cancer control. This team member will play a vital role in pediatric oncology and childhood cancer epidemiology group.
  • Collects and documents research data.
  • Maintains records for clinical study and regulatory documents.
  • Recruits, advertises, and screens for research patients.
  • Conducts patient interviews to evaluate patient eligibility in study.
  • Enters study data into a computerized database or case report form.
  • May schedule research subject appointments for tests and procedures, such as laboratory tests, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
  • Retrieves and submits test results to appropriate party.
  • Work with multiple hospital information systems such as EPIC, BRAIN, Access, and Excel databases.
  • Reviews, assimilates, and organizes prospectively-collected clinical data and medical record/health information (retrospectively- collected clinical data). 
  • Abstracts clinical data into electronic database.
  • Performs routine statistical analyses for epidemiological studies.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled research staff meetings.
  • Facilitates biospecimen collection for study participants.
Requires Master's degree in a Basic Science. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted. 
Requires directly related experience, typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate, three to five years of directly related experience preferred.
