| Position Description | This Clinical Research Assistant will be responsible for providing support to the research projects of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, with a core focus on projects generated out of the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN). The successful candidate will assist registered nurses and investigators in identifying potential research subjects, reviewing medical records, collecting and/or processing urine, blood, and other specimens, dependent on allowable medical scope of practice and according to the methods defined in multiple research protocols and established standards and practices. He or she is responsible for collecting, processing, and organizing research samples for storage and shipping; labeling and recording specimens; operating simple lab equipment, such as a centrifuge; delivering specimens to other departments and other duties directed by the division Clinical Research Manager. High school degree required; college degree preferred. Prior experience in the medical field as an “A” PCT, EMT, or Paramedic is preferred. Ideal candidate must be a team player, organized, and learn new techniques quickly. The successful candidate will be expected to work evening and weekend hours, with some flexibility to write his or her own schedule pending approval from the Clinical Research Manager. PLEASE NOTE: The hiring range posted above is for a full-time position at 100% effort. The salary range for this part-time position will be prorated based on 40% effort. This position is located at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC in Lawrenceville. TB test and PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBICriminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment. |
