University of Arizona Health Educator, Assistant - Clinical Research (Part Time) Otolaryngology -- Head & Neck Surgery

Coordinates the patient education, enrollment, data capture, and follow up of clinical trial study subjects. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Participate in studies by interviewing potential participants and reviewing medical history to determine if eligibility requirements are met.
  • Explain project to participants and enrolls them into the study.
  • Maintain contact with participants throughout the project; searches for participants that have changed addresses during the project.
  • Mail questionnaires to participants to complete or asks them questions by telephone or in person; compile results of questionnaires.
  • Assess participants during clinic visit, determining if patient is experiencing side effects or other problems; notifies principal investigator if problems arise.
  • Provide medical information to the participants such as how to administer drugs and how to care for a particular illness.
  • Review medical records of study participants or possible participants to obtain relevant data.
  • Complete case report forms for each study participant and documents medical data in the study subject record.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications 

Bachelor's degree in Health Education or a related field; OR, 
four years of health education experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education. 

Additional Minimum Qualifications 

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program; OR, One year of medical office experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Ability to effectively communicate.
