About the Unit
Provide support to the faculty of the Section of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation under the supervision of the Pediatric Clinical Trials Office Research Manager. This role is critical to the success of the pediatric hematology research program and the demands of this role require the effort of a full-time employee.
Unit Job Summary
Research Study Coordinator: Work with Principal Investigators, attending physicians, hematology/oncology nurses and MD fellows. Coordinate pharmaceutical, federally funded and investigator initiated studies, as well as multi-centered cooperative group and intergroup studies at a national level for pediatric hematology studies, with a focus on Sickle Cell Disease. Routine outpatient care of patients with sickle cell disease performed at Comer Children's Hospital and LaRabida Children's Hospital (CCH/LRCH). Conduct consent process for prospective subjects and facilitate completion of study surveys/questionnaires. Consent and recruitment process will take place during the patients' scheduled outpatient visits at CCH/LRCH. Report adverse drug reactions, schedule, prepare and participate in all program audits and pharmaceutical site visits, maintain weekly program conference lists, attend multidisciplinary conferences and workshops. Perform all aspects of clinical research activities including enrollment screening, data collection, monitoring of study participants, data entry and data quality control. Work with the clinical team to order and ensure scheduling of all study required tests. Interact with regulatory agents, IRBs, pharmacists, departmental and UCMC staff. Cross cover for other clinical research staff.
Education
Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted required.
Advanced degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted preferred.

Experience
A minimum of one year of relevant research experience required.
