Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Conduct research in an effort that focuses on basic
and translational biology of the human a placenta
to understand mechanisms of pregnancy disorders
such as miscarriage, fetal growth restriction,
preeclampsia and preterm birth. Furthermore,
we work on paradigm-shifting approaches for
the early detection of maternal and fetal disease,
as well as novel intervention strategies. We are
currently funded by grants from both industry and the NIH.
We seek a passionate individual to surmount
challenges that will improve the lives of babies
and mothers around the world by developing
and applying cutting-edge technologies.
Extensive knowledge of molecular biology,
including PCR, next generation sequencing (Illumina),
library preparation, and quality controls.
Background in clinical genetics.
Work independently with appropriate experimental
and quality controls as well as collaboratively,
within a multifunctional team.
Document laboratory results and prepare
reports, including presentations to the research group.
Communicate effectively (verbal and written)
with colleagues and supervisor.
Basic laboratory duties such as preparation of
reagents, stocking of supplies, maintaining the
work area, and related duties as required.
Experience in basic molecular biology techniques
including isolation and purification of RNA and
DNA (including plasmid mini and maxi preps),
gel electrophoresis, DNA fragment isolation, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and PCR.
