Purpose of Class: 
At UConn Health this position is responsible for independently performing a full range of tasks for assigned clinical research projects/programs or segments of programs/projects. This position will work for the Calhoun Cardiology Center with substance abuse patients located in Springfield, MA. Ability to travel between Massachusetts and Connecticut will be required. This is a temporary position with no State paid benefits; continued employment cannot be guaranteed.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY: Knowledge of research protocols, principles and procedures; knowledge of aspects of clinical trials such as screening, interviewing, case report forms; computer applications and computer data management; oral and written communication skills; knowledge of a science such as psychology or social science or a related field; ability to identify, produce, organize, evaluate and interpret data; knowledge of ethics and regulatory procedures (i.e. informed consent, IRB applications, data safety and monitoring plans) involved with clinical trials and other clinical research; ability to work as a member of a project team; knowledge of clinical tasks required for research (e.g., recruiting subjects, interviewing). Demonstrated interviewing experience with substance-dependent individuals. Ability to work independently, to attend to detail, problem solve and be organized. Reliable means of transportation required.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
General Experience: Bachelor degree in Psychology or Social Science.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position involves travel within Connecticut and Massachusetts. May require nights and weekends. Must be able to provide and maintain reliable means of transportation and appropriate insurance coverage. Familiarity with structured psychiatric evaluations. Demonstrated computer skills, including working knowledge of Excel and SPSS.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: one (1) year of related research experience.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Recruiting subjects; reviewing medical charts and data for determining study eligibility; conducting structured psychiatry evaluations; administering physiological assessments in a human laboratory setting; scheduling appointments for follow-up tests; entering and analyzing data using SPSS, Excel, etc. other related duties as required.

SCHEDULE: Full time, 40 hours per week, flexibility in schedule is required to accommodate research needs, may require nights and weekends.

HOURLY RATE: TBD
