WHAT YOU'LL DO

General Position Summary

The Associate Clinical Research Coordinator evaluates initiates and maintains activities related to the conduct of clinical trials in assigned area(s) of responsibility with the assistance and guidance of Clinical Research Coordinators or Senior Clinical Research Coordinators. The Associate Clinical Research Coordinator communicates effectively with external funding agencies and sponsors, other departments, departmental staff and patients to assure the understanding of the requirements of conducting and participating in clinical trials. The Associate Clinical Research Coordinator organizes and manages all documentation and regulatory submissions as required by the sponsor of the trial, regulatory agencies, Research division / OHS policy and patient care requirements of Ochsner with the direction and approval of other Research staff. The Associate Clinical Research Coordinator functions as project manager for clinical trials in assigned area(s) of responsibility.

The Associate Clinical Research Coordinator demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner’s “Expectations” as duties are performed on a daily basis.

Essential Position Duties
1. Coordinates and oversees the regulatory processes as they relate to the evaluation, initiation, maintenance, closure and internal and external audit of clinical trials and other research activity.
2. Coordinates and oversees patient (study participant) activity as it relates to the conduct of research and clinical trials.
3. Develops and maintains all required documentation as it relates to the conduct of assigned clinical trials and associated patient care.
4. Conducts daily work and clinical trial activity in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.
5. Maintains competency in requirements and regulations associated with the conduct of clinical trials and other related research activity
6. Supports department, division and institutional goals.

WHAT WE SEEK

Required Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Licensure / Specialized Training

*High School diploma or equivalent

Experience / Skills

*3 years of experience in a clinical setting OR Bachelor of Science degree
*Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office programs
*Strong interpersonal skills
*Oral and written communication skills
*Critical thinking skills to apply to the process of trial evaluation and submission, particularly the development of study related budgets, contracts and patient consent documents
*Experience working independently, organizing work, and setting priorities

Abilities / Other

Willingness to learn new techniques. Must be able to move about the Ochsner campus and occasionally to satellite facilities. Must be able to lift, move, transport patient records, regulatory documentation binders, and study supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of long periods of sitting and computer work. Position may require some travel for training related to specific clinical trials. Position may require flexible work hours, depending on the needs of particular trial activity.

Preferred Qualifications
Education / Certifications / Licensure / Specialized Training

*Bachelor of Science or related degree
*Masters in Public Health or related clinical field

Experience / Skills / Competencies

*Experience in area of assigned clinical specialty
*Experience in clinical research
*Experience with data entry and database management
