 GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:


Our group is conducting research to design and evaluate programs to improve Newborn and Child Health in low-resource settings.   We are starting several new projects which will evaluate the potential impact of simple, low cost interventions to reduce neonatal mortality related to prematurity and jaundice in rural Bangladesh.  We are searching for a full time research assistant to help with systematic literature reviews, administrative tasks, and program reports.  The preferred candidate should have some experience in systematic literature review, data extraction and entry, excel database, and word processing. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to screening papers and extracting data for a systematic literature review 
• Assist staff in administrative tasks, including coordinating meetings between on-site and off-site  colleagues, purchasing equipment, bookkeeping, and keeping track of staff work hours 
• Assist in preparing manuscripts for publication and grant proposals/reports for submission 
• Produce graphics, presentations and written communication materials related to our studies 
• Organize and contribute to discussions at weekly lab meetings and monthly journal club on global maternal,  child, and newborn health 
• Assist with other lab tasks as necessary

 QUALIFICATIONS:


Required: 
• Education: bachelor’s degree (minimum) or graduate degree preferred

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with the study participants. 
• Good oral and written communication skills. 
• Knowledge of clinical research protocols. 
• Knowledge of computer programs, databases, etc. 
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks. • Careful attention to detail. 
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects rights and individual needs. 
• Systematic literature reviews 
• Reference software (Endnote preferred) 
• Administrative support 
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members 
• High personal motivation, self-management, organization, and attention to detail; ability to meet  deadlines in a timely manner 
• Interest in global maternal, child, and newborn health 
• Project support 
• Research methods 
• Strong spoken and written communication skillsPreferred: 
• Statistical analysis (Stata or similar) 
• Program evaluation
