The Research Study Assistant II will be responsible for:
  • Providing psychometrician services for studies that contract with the Behavior Science Core, including liaison with study coordinators, scheduling, assembling test battery, obtaining training if needed from supervising licensed psychologist, collecting data, providing scored data to study coordinators, and comply with reporting to the Clinical Research Center.
  • Monitoring, tracking and processing data sets obtained from field coordinators.
  • Organizing recruitment procedures, including establishing and maintaining tracking databases, recruiting and monitoring recruitment progress.
  • Coordinating scheduling of study subjects for psychological/psychiatric assessment as well as MRI scanning.
  • Providing psychometrician services for multiple studies within the Psychiatry Department.
  • Providing consultation on implementation of NIH Toolbox to researchers in the Hospital.
  • Entering clinical research data in databases and manipulating data sets in a variety of software including SPSS, Excel and REDCap.
  • Ordering and tracking use of gift checks, parking vouchers provided to families to participate in studies.
  • Assisting with preparation of electronic Institutional Review Board documentation for multiple clinical research studies in Psychiatry.
  • Monitoring informed consent and maintaining records.
  • Reviewing and editing manuscripts for submission to journals.

To qualify, you must have…
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related discipline, preferably in a Life, Health, or Social Sciences field, with a minimum of one year of related experience.  Alternatively, a Master’s degree may substitute for less than one year experience.
  • Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in which the information or problems are moderately complex to complex.
  • Well-developed communication skills in order to provide critical information to patients, effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, and the ability to mediate fair solutions. Work also requires advanced writing skills.
  • Highly organized skills, energetic and motivated, and be able to work independently as well as in a team.

The RSA II is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of multiple clinical research studies within the Department, including the Behavior Science Core, which is administered in collaboration with the Clinical Research Center.   In addition to the multiple studies staffed in the Behavior Science Core, current studies include a clinical trial of novel MRI techniques in ADHD (with BWH), epigenetic study of offspring of parents who experienced severe malnutrition as infants (with MGH), and clinical studies of learning disabilities.
