General Description:Provides support for clinical research protocols that are both industry and investigator initiated in collaboration with the principal investigator. Requires interaction with faculty, patients, regulatory entities, Office of Research Administration, pharmaceutical and industry representatives. Assists with the implementation and conduct of clinical research protocols that are both industry and investigator initiated in collaboration with the principal investigator and Research Nurse/Program Coordinator.

Provides support to the Principle Investigator, the senior Research Nurse/Program Coordinator, the primary care providers, and medical consultants and collaborates with the progress of the study. Assists with obtaining initial and ongoing approval for assigned protocols with the completion and submission of the appropriate documentation to the IRB. Communicates with sponsor and assists with providing the necessary documentation (CV’s, licenses, normal values for lab work, etc.). Assists with the maintenance of regulatory documentation for researchers and sponsors. Assists with data collection, database development, data entry and statistical analysis. Maintains confidential records of research trials. Participates in recruiting and consenting eligible patients for clinical trials. Contacts potential subjects either by letter or phone prior to hospital admission when appropriate. Assists with laboratory specimen processing, storage, and shipment in accordance with local and federal regulations. Attends inservices and external trainings, workshops, conferences, and other relevant programs for growth and development.
Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED required. 2 years of related experience required. Additional education may substitute for experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula. Requires a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to function independently in a fast paced environment. 

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
