We are seeking to hire an individual for a full-time research assistant position. This position involves assisting with the implementation of two funded research studies centering on the issue of sexual function for breast cancer survivors. One study is a five year research grant funded by American Cancer Society focusing on developing patient and provider training interventions to improve patient-provider communication about sexual concerns in breast cancer. The other is an NIH-funded pilot project examining a telephone-based Intimacy Enhancement intervention for breast cancer survivors and their partners. Research assistants will be involved in the day to day tasks of conducting these research studies and will work closely with the PI and project manager.
Responsibilities include: 1) recruitment and enrollment of study participants through both mailings and in-clinic methods and monitoring their progress through the studies; 2) conducting audio recordings of clinic encounters as part of the larger research project; 3) preparation and administration of study questionnaires and consent forms; 4) data entry; and 5) assembling research literature or work on other research projects such as reviewing scientific abstracts.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in psychology or a related field (e.g., social work, nursing, counseling, etc.). Experience working in behavioral research preferred, as is experience with Excel and SPSS. Applicant must be able to interact well with people in a professional environment including a clinical context, should have superior organizational and analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and should show a strong interest in health psychology/behavioral medicine types of research.
