General Description
The Center for Adolescent Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School
of Public Health is one of 37 Prevention Research Centers supported by the
Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. We are committed to assisting
urban youth in becoming healthy and productive adults. Together with
community partners, the Center conducts research that identifies the
needs and strengths of young people and tests programs designed to
promote the health and well-being of young people.
The Research Assistant will offer support to the day to day activities of the
Center for Adolescent Health. Be willing to offer administrative assistance
to Center faculty and staff and committed to the Center’s mission of working
in partnership to promote the health and well-being of young people in Baltimore City.
The Center for Adolescent Health Research Assistant will, assist
Center faculty and staff with research activities when needed (i.e. data collection, IRB
responses, etc). Accompany the Project Director on site visits, and noting and
coordinating responses to identified follow-up items. Assist the Center faculty
and staff with grants reporting requirements. Assist Center faculty and
staff in preparing correspondence for external partners and community stakeholders.
Coordinate logistics of internal and external meetings, and training and
technical assistance sessions. Take detailed notes at meetings, and
coordinate responses to identified follow-up items. Manage supplies
and materials including the distribution of Center products. Support the
Director and Center faculty and staff on an ongoing basis.
Moderate degree of independent action. Assist Center faculty and staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related discipline, preferably in health, social science,
or related field. Some related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional
related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted
by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours)
or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the
same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of
non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum
education/experience required for the respective job.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong organizational skills, with good follow-through to complete
assignments within specified time frames, and ability to multi-task.
Strong communications skills, with demonstrated ability to interact
constructively with a wide range of personalities from a variety of backgrounds.
Excellence in writing, reporting, and English composition.
Proficiency in Microsoft software applications with strong emphasis on
Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Experience working on grants and providing grant support.
