Principal contribution is providing routine or standardized laboratory or administrative duties and collecting routine data in support of research projects under direct supervision. Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists with the preparation of reports and manuscripts. Maintains and orders supplies. Responsibilities may include the following non-laboratory duties: recruiting and scheduling research subjects; transcribing and coding data; assisting with developing data collection tools; managing data files; and providing general administrative support. Responsibilities may include the following laboratory duties: assisting lab members in preparing and conducting experiments; following established procedures or protocols, provides assistance to supervisor with research projects; performing basic laboratory techniques; assisting with maintaining, behavioral testing and/or surgical preparation of animals.

Unit Job Summary
Research Support Assistant: Manages aspects of clinical trials including: screening, enrollment, study patient visits, subject follow-up, completion of the case report form, and adverse event reports. Completes study training and/or certifications per study requirements. Maintains accurate and complete documentation of signed informed consent, relevant IRB approvals, source documentation, Case Report Forms (CRF's), drug dispensing logs, electronic data entry, and study related communication. Plans and coordinates patient schedule for study procedures, return visits, and study treatment schedules. Ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are implemented and documented in accordance to study sponsor, primary investigator, and regulatory agency specifications. Prepares and maintains protocol submissions and revisions. Educates patients about study procedures to be performed, visit schedules, and what to report between and during visits, and potential side effects. Organizes and attends site visits from sponsors and other relevant study meetings. May recruit and interview potential study patients. May obtain, possess, and transport specimens to appropriate laboratory according to study requirements and established aseptic techniques. Works closely with Principal Investigators (PI), Co-investigators, other study personnel, and sponsoring agents. Interacts with regulatory agents, Institutional Review Board (IRB) personnel, patients, department staff, and hospital staff.  
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. 

Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted preferred. 
 
Experience
One year of relevant research experience preferred.  
Competencies
Basic knowledge in relevant scientific field required. 
Problem-solving skills required. 
Attention to detail required. 
Organizational skills required. 
Ability to learn new research techniques or methods required. 
Ability to work independently and as part of a team required. 

Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred. 
Analytical skills preferred. 
Verbal and written communication skills preferred.
