Position Highlights: Under direct supervision conducts a variety of established research and clinic functions. Position Responsibilities: Schedules research participants for all trial-related activities required by research protocol Obtains, stores and ships biological specimens according to research protocol. This includes drawing blood and collecting additional specimens as necessary. Collects data via in-person and/or telephone interviews with clinic patients, participants and caregivers Administers and scores an assortment of neuropsychological, lifestyle and physical function tests with patients, participants and caregivers Promptly enters data into electronic forms and/or web-based applications. This includes checking data for completeness and accuracy Utilizes internal web-based systems to schedule, track, and update participant and patient information Maintains participant and patient charts including editing for completeness and accuracy Reviews patient charts to determine eligibility status according to research protocol Applies a thorough knowledge of the research protocols to serve as a resource person to the clinicians and study coordinators Assists clinicians and study coordinators as necessary to ensure research protocol compliance and to maximize overall participant satisfaction. General Description
The Center for Adolescent Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School
of Public Health is one of 37 Prevention Research Centers supported by the
Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. We are committed to assisting
urban youth in becoming healthy and productive adults. Together with
community partners, the Center conducts research that identifies the
needs and strengths of young people and tests programs designed to
promote the health and well-being of young people.
The Research Assistant will offer support to the day to day activities of the
Center for Adolescent Health. Be willing to offer administrative assistance
to Center faculty and staff and committed to the Center’s mission of working
in partnership to promote the health and well-being of young people in Baltimore City.
The Center for Adolescent Health Research Assistant will, assist
Center faculty and staff with research activities when needed (i.e. data collection, IRB
responses, etc). Accompany the Project Director on site visits, and noting and
coordinating responses to identified follow-up items. Assist the Center faculty
and staff with grants reporting requirements. Assist Center faculty and
staff in preparing correspondence for external partners and community stakeholders.
Coordinate logistics of internal and external meetings, and training and
technical assistance sessions. Take detailed notes at meetings, and
coordinate responses to identified follow-up items. Manage supplies
and materials including the distribution of Center products. Support the
Director and Center faculty and staff on an ongoing basis.
Moderate degree of independent action. Assist Center faculty and staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related discipline, preferably in health, social science,
or related field. Some related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional
related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted
by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours)
or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the
same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of
non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum
education/experience required for the respective job.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong organizational skills, with good follow-through to complete
assignments within specified time frames, and ability to multi-task.

GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Research Assistant (RA) will support various research studies involving the analysis and evaluation of the impact of computerized clinical systems on the quality of patient care. Current projects underway include: 1. preparing for a symposium focusing on vulnerable populations and IT-enabled consumer engagement, 2. improving prescribing safety by redesigning medication CPOE (computerized prescriber order entry) to incorporate the medication indication in the prescription order, 3. improving inpatient care by facilitating more effective and safer use of EHRs in hospitals. This project aims to produce an enhanced and expanded web-based tool to allow organizations to test for EHR-induced unintended consequences or new errors.
In addition, the RA will assist with team meetings, data collection, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. The position requires strong communication, organizational and analytical skills. The RA will support all activities associated with the execution of the research plan including Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, regular progress reports to the sponsor organization, and organizing communication with participants and project staff. The RA will use REDCap, Excel, Access and other data management software tools to assist with data collection and analysis. The RA's responsibilities will also include administrative tasks and literature searches.
In affiliation with the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care (DGIM), the RA will have numerous voluntary opportunities for training and career development. DGIM holds medical seminars for RAs with review of clinical case studies and special topics, an RA journal club, a research skills and data management training series, and DGIM Research Day, an annual forum for RAs to showcase their contributions via oral and poster presentations and promote professional development through a career panel discussion.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assist in building a database/catalog of respondents to assess healthcare delivery system stress at various regions and sites
•Utilize REDCap, Access and/or Excel to assist in data collection efforts, database development, and descriptive data analysis. (In-house REDCap and MS Access training is available.)
•Assist with data collection, data analysis and system evaluation.
•Assist with the preparation of formal research reports and manuscripts for publication in professional journals and presentation at national/international conferences.
•Help with the preparation of talks and presentation materials including PowerPoint slides, tables and graphs.
•Assist with grant progress reports and IRB submissions as needed.
•Photocopying, electronic mailing, sending mail, faxing, documenting project work, and other administrative duties as required.
•Coordinate, organize and take minutes for team meetings and stakeholder sessions.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s Degree and an interest in healthcare and the use of technology to support clinical care.
•Data management skills and competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and MS Access knowledge and EndNote preferred.
•Certification in the protection of human research subjects (can be obtained after hire)
•Experience with RedCap preferred
•Experience with MS Access preferred
•Experience with electronic health records preferred
•Familiarity with biostatistics concepts preferred.

Position Highlights: The Social Neuroscience and Psychopathology lab directed by Dr. Christine Hooker, PhD at Rush University Medical Center is seeking to hire a research assistant for a two-year full-time commitment. Position Responsibilities: The research assistant will be responsible for assisting with study coordination including, but not limited to, recruiting and testing participants, collecting behavioral and neuroimaging data, assisting in both structural and functional MRI scans of patient populations, data entry, and preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and/or grants. Successful candidates will be expected to be able to take initiative and work well both independently and on a team. Many of our projects are time-sensitive, so the ability to organize, prioritize, and complete tasks is a critical skill. Study populations that the research assistant may be working with include: schizophrenia, autism spectrum, clinical and genetic high risk for schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorders, adults, adolescents, and children.
