Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree, in a related field preferred (undergraduate experience in research work desired).
  2. Minimum  1* year of experience in clinical research with increasing responsibility.
  3. Current professional licensure (if applicable).

The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Deputy Director of the Clinical Neurosciences Division (CND) of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs National Center for PTSD and Yale Department of Psychiatry. The Research Assistant will provide support for all aspects of ongoing projects in the Translational Psychiatric Epidemiology Laboratory of the CND. Specific tasks will include coordination and implementation of all psychosocial, cognitive, and basic physical assessment procedures; creation and management of all study databases; data cleaning, and conducting and summarizing results of basic data analyses; conducting literature reviews and preparing annotated bibliographies; assisting in the preparation of conference presentations and manuscripts; and coordinating meetings and phone teleconferences of the study team.  The individual will also be responsible for maintaining correspondence with institutional review boards and funding agencies.
1.  Researches and collects data through site or home visit intakes; library research; structured interviews; or through other means for research projects.  2.  Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data using scientific or statistical techniques.  Modifies and plans research experiments, procedures, tests, or survey instruments. Assists in research design.   3.  Writes and edits material for publication and presentation.  Reports on status of research activities.  Oversees and instructs research and support staff on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance.  4.  Schedules and coordinates research activities.  Identifies and recruits study participants.  Orders and maintains inventory of supplies.  5.  May assist in preparing financial information and monitoring budgets.   6.  Performs additional functions incidental to research activities.
Two years of related work experience in the same job family and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Demonstrated attention to detail with ability to maintain participant files and source documents for completeness, identify and resolves discrepancies in records, track study trends and provide study progress summaries as appropriate.
Proficiency with statistical computer programs (e.g. SAS, SPSS) and database programs (e.g., MS Access, Excel) to construct and manage study data sets and databases relevant to research projects.
Demonstrated ability with data management, including developing conventions for managing incomplete data sets, running query checks and resolve edits and out of range values, documenting all processes.
Ability to maintain data systems designed to ensure that databases used for the research project comply with administrative policies, procedures and requirements set forth by the Research Office, Institutional Review Boards, Office of Research Oversight and the data security guidelines.
Experience with psychosocial and cognitive testing procedures for studies; performs basic physical assessment procedures (e.g., heart rate, blood pressure monitoring).
Minimum Bachelor's-level degree in health-related discipline and two years of research experience.

Duties
Research coordinator will assist with daily administration of the studies and also will work closely with the PI. The research coordinator will perform the following tasks weekly: coordinate follow-up and retention activities, perform and coordinate medical chart review, assist with adverse event documentation/forms sent to the DSMB and the UPHS IRB, maintain study records, completion of the regulatory paper work necessary to ensure compliance with all DSMB and IRB guidelines. Additionally, Research Coordinator will administer intervention as necessary and patient recruitment, manage follow-up survey administration, data entry and assist in data management. Research Coordinator will participate in report writing, analysis and manuscript preparation.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Master’s Degree or more is preferred.

Clinical Research Coordinator

Job Summary

This position requires an independently functioning individual responsible for complete coordination of clinical research for the division of Pediatric Nephrology. Types of studies involved can be federally funded, network, industry-sponsored and or investigator initiated. This person is expected to be a knowledgeable resource to faculty and staff. Includes data entry in multi-center quality benchmarking projects. Administrative supervision is provided by the Administrative Manager of Pediatric Nephrology and functional supervision is shared between the Pediatric Nephrology Clinical and Translational Research Committee.

Responsibilities*

Responsible for all aspects for study administration, including, but not limited to the following: total regulatory maintenance, screening, consenting, data collection, sample procurement and processing as well as entry of collected data into electronic data capture (EDC) systems. Management of study follow-up involving query resolution in timely manner and eventual study close out. Education of faculty and staff regarding research studies in general as well as specific faculty and staff caring for a patient enrolled in research. Creation of research documents as well as presentations and educational materials for patients, staff and faculty. Creation/management of an efficient electronic management system to track study specimens

Required Qualifications*

A Bachelors degree in a health care or research related field or equivalent in experience. Ability to communicate effectively with team members about enrollment and sample collection needs. Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team is essential. Off-hours as well as travel (study meetings) will be required. Qualified candidate must have the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.

Desired Qualifications*

Certification as a Clinical Research Professional through ACRP or SOCRA
At least 3 years of experience in a clinical research area, preferably in a pediatric setting.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Study Assistant.  This individual will assist with multiple research studies by performing a number of specific support functions. Current studies include two large randomized clinical trials of innovative suicide prevention interventions with active duty Soldiers and Marines at four installations, a full-scale suicide prevention randomized clinical trial with Harborview Medical Center patients, smaller studies of psychotherapy training and implementation, and a NIMH conference grant that brings together implementation stakeholders for a conference every two years. 

Typical Work: 
  • Code and enter data from interviews and from medical records into databases according to project protocols.  Use REDCap, SPSS, Excel, and Access to manage data.  Use electronic and hard-copy medical records for verifying participant treatment history. 
  • Verify the accuracy of research study data.  
  • Maintain project and data filing systems.  
  • Maintain confidentiality of subject records. 
  • Assist with data cleaning and building data entry forms. 
  • Assist with the preparation of study materials, including printing, proofreading, editing, and organizing materials for ease of use by participants and research team. 
  • Attend regular project meetings, collect and distribute meeting minutes (if assigned). 
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations and publications. 
  • Assist with tracking and maintaining budgetary records; requesting reimbursement for purchases. 
  • Assist with research-related travel arrangements. 
  • Maintain, update entries in Zotero online bibliographical program; refine procedures for utilizing Zotero. 
  • Perform related duties as required.  Other duties may include copying, library searches, summarizing relevant literature, conducting inventory, scheduling meetings.
